MSC World America: Dining venues are revealed, and they’re different to World Europa!
Since I cruised on MSC World Europa, I’ve received so many questions from people looking to book either that ship, or her soon-to-be sister ship: MSC World America. At the point of writing this article, World America is due to launch in April of 2025, and it’s fair to say that all eyes are currently on her, as both new and longer-serving passengers build excitement levels for the next ship.
One thing’s pretty clear about World America, and that is that it’s not going to be a direct replica of World Europa. If you’ve read my previous posts (or watched my YouTube videos) from that ship, you’ll know that I’m happy about that - I felt as though there were a few parts of World Europa that didn’t really work, and so it’s great that MSC appear to be listening and reflecting on these things to make World America even better.
MSC have recently announced what some of the Dining options are going to look like onboard World America, and this is what we’re going to talk about today in this post.
If you’re new here, hello! I’m Fraser, and I love to cruise. I use this website, but also my other social channels, to talk to as many people as possible about both my experiences, and also interesting things that are going on out there in the industry. If you’d like to support my journey, why not head over and subscribe to my YouTube channel? This is a totally FREE and easy way to support me - just search ‘Fraser at Sea’ on YouTube, or click here.
Let’s start by looking at what’s confirmed as featuring on World America that we’re familiar with from previous MSC ships.
There are two Speciality venues onboard MSC ships that I really enjoy: ‘Butcher’s Cut’ and ‘Hola! Tacos & Cantina’. I was absolutely delighted to learn that both of these will be on World America, in the same place as where they are on World Europa: the middle of Deck 7.
Butcher’s Cut is the onboard steakhouse, featuring seating options both inside the dimly lit steakhouse venue, and also ‘outside’ in the main Galleria (shown above). Note: this isn’t actually outside on the ship - it’s in the huge indoor Galleria!
Hola! is one of my favourite Speciality restaurants at sea - it’s Mexican, with an unlimited dining option. Price-wise, it’s usually around €17.99, and this allows you to order unlimited options from the menu. Take it from me - this is SO worth it, and great value!
Another venue that’s remaining on World America that features on World Europa is Kaito. This is primarily a Teppanyaki restaurant, but also a sushi bar - it’s been confirmed that both of these options are coming to World America, and they’ll be on Deck 7 too - directly next door to Butcher’s Cut - the same location as on World Europa!
So, now that we’ve covered what’s the same, let’s move on and talk about what we know about the new venues…
Up first, World America will feature the first ‘Eataly’ at sea!
In an interesting turn, it looks as though MSC could be launching World America without the Chef’s Garden Kitchen venue on Deck 8, and replacing it with Eataly. Now, it’s confirmed that Eataly will be on the ship, but the deck plan hasn’t yet been updated on the MSC website. Judging by the one image of this new venue that’s been released so far (above), it would certainly suggest to me it’ll be in the location of Chef’s Garden Kitchen. Below, you can see a screenshot from my ship tour on YouTube (don’t worry - I’ll link you up to this later in this article!), and you can see a similar support structure on the right hand side of the shot, with a similar roof and glass side looking out onto the deck. Let’s see if this materialises…!
Next up, another new venue that’s been announced but the specific location hasn’t (but I think I can guess where it’ll be) is ‘Paxos’, a new Greek restaurant from MSC.
This one sounds super interesting. Very few details have been announced, but the launch e-mail from MSC states that this is where ‘exquisite seafood, live music, and al fresco seating will transport you to the Mediterranean’. What’s exciting about this is the fact that live music is going to feature - I can’t wait to see what this looks like as part of a restaurant option.
In terms of location on the ship, I’m working to the assumption that this restaurant is going to replace La Pescaderia, the seafood restaurant that’s currently in the World Promenade of World Europa. If I show you two photos from World Europa (again, taken from my YouTube video of that ship), you can see that al fresco dining is already a feature at La Pescaderia.
I do think the live music element will work fantastically out here - I always felt there wasn’t a huge amount of atmosphere dining out here, so a HUGE thumbs up from me here, MSC!
La Pescaderia also has a clever little ‘grab and go’ next door, but this again was rarely used during my cruise. It looks as though Paxox will replace this, with what looks like an outdoor seating area directly outside and also upstairs - I love this, and can already imagine sitting up on the roof of the restaurant people-watching down below. Take a look below!
I feel that all of these changes so far - and if my suspicions do end up being true - are really welcomed. When I was onboard World Europa, I felt as though neither the Chef’s Garden Kitchen or La Pescaderia were well used, and infact I spoke to no other passengers who had tried either of these venues. Perhaps this is MSC trying to tweak these venues slightly to generate more of an income, and them also testing if the demand is higher for Italian and Greek food onboard. Time will tell, I guess!
The next brand new addition to MSC World America that doesn’t currently feature on MSC World Europa? ‘Promenade Bites’.
This one sounds great! Going by the name only, I suspect this will be trying to bring a bit of life to the outdoor Promenade part of the ship, which is at times pretty quiet on World Europa. MSC promise that Promenade Bites will offer snacks like hot dogs, popcorn and cotton candy - sounds like good fun!
My initial thought - this looks like something that you’d perhaps expect to find at a Carnival. Could MSC be going in the same direction as one of their competitors (who will remain nameless in this article…) and considering a ride or two out here? Personally, I wouldn’t object to some cotton candy while riding a Carousel… Just saying!
So, that’s it! Some brand new venues for us to think about onboard MSC World America! I hope you’ve enjoyed this post today. If you have, then please do sign up to receive my FREE e-mail newsletters by clicking HERE, and also come and support my YouTube channel here.
To see more from onboard MSC World Europa (she’s a beauty), then come and check out my full ship tour on YouTube. Word of warning - this one’s almost an hour long because she’s such a massive ship. Enjoy!
Have a great day, and happy cruising!
