Margaritaville at Sea

Margaritaville at Sea are a small Florida-based cruise line, headquartered in Palm Beach (USA), and they offer cruises on either of their two cruise ships. Their first ship - Paradise - launched this cruise line to the market in 2022, with their second ship - Islander - joining the fleet in 2024. You can cruise from either Palm Beach or Tampa, two less frequented ports by cruise ships in Florida.

You may be familiar with the ships offered from this cruise line - they’re both ships that have been acquired from European-based cruise line Costa Cruises: Paradise was originally Costa Classica, and Islander was Costa Atlantica. Paradise has also served with another small line since Costa - Grand Bahama Cruise Line were the operators before Margaritaville at Sea came in to acquire - she sailed for the last time under this branding in 2022. It’s really interesting to see how Margaritaville at Sea are refurbishing and re-branding these much older cruise ships, in order to make them appeal to the modern market in the US.

As a British cruiser, I didn’t really know what to expect from a cruise with Margaritaville at Sea - before my first sailing, I didn’t know anybody else who had made the trip to Florida to try the ships. The primary reason for this is that it’s currently only shorter cruises that are offered, and so it’s more difficult to fly long-haul for a 2-5 night cruise. On that note, did you know - you can book a ‘cruise and stay’ package with this cruise line? Most cruise lines require you to join the ship on embarkation day and leave on the final (disembarkation) day, but you have the option of leaving the ship during your itinerary with Margaritaville at Sea. The cruise line have partnered with a number of resorts on Grand Bahama Island (The Bahamas), where guests are able to break their short cruises up with a stay on land - clever, right?! I’ll tell you more about this later!
