What’s the food like on Margaritaville at Sea? Here’s what I ate onboard (including menus and photos!)
The reviews are in on ‘Margaritaville at Sea’, one of the newest cruise lines to serve the Bahamas and Caribbean cruise market, and they’re mixed! I took a short cruise onboard their first ship - Paradise - to get a feel for the product, and to try to understand the nature of some of the reviews.
From a food point of view, I was really impressed with what was being offered onboard. I’d read reviews about the food quality being really sub-par, and had been told that I might like to take my own food onto the ship with me. However, I’m delighted to say that these people couldn’t have been more wrong.
Sure, you’re not getting 5-star dining that you’d expect from a luxury resort in Hawaii, but that’s not what this cruise line are trying to offer.
In this post, I’m going to share with you some of my meals onboard my Margaritaville at Sea cruise, in the hope that it can help you to set your expectations before you board the ship. I’ll cover what I ate at breakfast, at dinner, and also my pizza that I enjoyed as a ‘late night snack’…
Let’s get started with the first meal of the day: breakfast!
Breakfast onboard Paradise is served in two venues: the ‘Port of Indecision Buffet’ up on Deck 10, and also in the ‘JWB Prime Steakhouse’ on Deck 8. There’s no ‘Main Dining Room’ breakfast service on this ship - if you’d like a sit down breakfast (like what I’m going to show you), then you do need to pay slightly extra to eat at the steakhouse. Don’t worry - there is a Main Dining Room on Paradise - I’ll show you this later in this post.
Anyway, here’s the menu and also the food that I enjoyed during breakfast. Note: I ate this food across two breakfasts - I didn’t eat it all in one sitting - I promise…!
Here’s the menu at the JWB Prime Steakhouse during the breakfast service - what would you order?
Of course, breakfast has to come with a fresh coffee, doesn’t it? I opted for these drinks, rather than the alcoholic option - too early for me…!
I do love a fresh pastry, and these ones hit the mark - served warm to the table.
My fruit plate starter, complete with blueberries served in a heart shape - how cute!
Here’s the ‘House Granola’ - a good portion, right? I sometimes find blueberries (and fresh berries in general) to be difficult to find on a cruise ship, but they were plentiful on here!
Here’s my Brioche French Toast - this was genuinely one of the best things that I’ve ever eaten on a cruise ship!

Next, let’s move on to look at dinner. For this meal, I want to show you the food that’s included in the Main Dining Room. This venue is called ‘Fins Dining’ onboard Paradise, and you’ll find it on Deck 8 of the ship (it’s actually right beside the Steakhouse that I showed you the breakfast from in the photos above).
This was the part of the food offering that I was, without a doubt, most impressed with. Everything in here was included in my cruise fare, so I didn’t pay a penny more to eat any of the food you’ll see below. Considering the prices being charged to cruise on this ship, I was super impressed!
Here’s the ‘Island Spring Rolls’: really tasty and a good sized portion, don’t you think?
‘Shrimp and Grits’, a Margaritaville at Sea staple.
I found the food on this ship to be of brilliant quality - I was really impressed!
This is the ‘Classic Brownie’. If you’re cruising on this ship in the future, you MUST try this - my mouth’s watering just looking at the picture…
Ok, that’s breakfast and dinner covered. Impressed so far?
If you’ve still got some space and you’re still hungry, what does a ‘late night snack’ look like on Paradise? Of course, you could head up to the buffet to satisfy your craving ‘free of charge’, but everyone loves a pizza, right?! They’ve got a pizzeria onboard, and I was really impressed with it.
Pizzas on here do come at an additional charge, but ‘worth it’, in my opinion.
This pizza was wonderful - how could you say ‘no’ to this?!
That’s a quick taste of some of the food available onboard Paradise, the first ship in the Margaritaville at Sea fleet. If you’re anything like me, you might be surprised at what you’re seeing considering the fares available for this ship - a big ‘thumbs up’ from me!
