Ok, let’s talk about pizza!
Where can you get pizza on a Costa cruise?
The big question - where do you need to go to get some pizza? It might surprise you, but you can’t actually get pizza at the buffet on a Costa cruise. It’s not an item that’s ‘included’ in your cruise fare - you’re going to need to pay extra to eat it on the ship.
Costa Cruises offer their pizza from a bespoke onboard pizzeria, and this is called ‘Pummid’Oro Pizzeria’. You’ll usually find this venue on the same deck as most of the other speciality venues - you won’t need to look too hard!
From a design point of view, it’s a really informal and relaxed space. You’ll never need to ‘dress up’ to eat in here, and so it’s quite nice to have a really casual meal in here at any point during your cruise.

It’s probably worth highlighting that Costa is a pretty inexpensive cruise line, and cruises on here do generally demonstrate really good value for money. I felt that this dining venue looked exactly as I’d expect on a ship like this. On a more premium cruise line, you might expect comfier seating, or maybe even real plants in the dining areas, but I felt this was a really nice space to spend a little time in.
Onboard Costa Diadema, the pizzeria also had a small outdoor dining area, which allows you the ability to relax outside while eating your pizza. I absolutely LOVED being able to sit out here, sheltered from the wind and rain, while listening to the waves at night.
There’s a great little outdoor dining area on Costa Diadema, perfect for al fresco dining whatever the weather!
If you don’t want to go to the restaurant to order or eat your pizza, you can just call room service. Room service pizzas will be the same as what you’d order from the pizzeria, but will come at an additional charge due to delivery etc.
How much does a pizza cost on a Costa cruise?
I was really surprised that Costa Cruises didn’t offer free, or ‘included’ pizza. I tend to find that pizza is one of those things that almost every cruise line is happy to serve you, probably largely due to the fact that it’s a pretty cheap and easy item to cook and serve in areas like the buffet.
On your Costa cruise, you’ll have to pay. I found that a pizza would start between €8 and €10, with the more topping-heavy or ‘fancier’ pizzas going up in price from that point.
It’s worth highlighting that members of ‘C|Club’, the Costa Cruises loyalty programme, were able to get up to 50% off some pizzas throughout the cruise, so it’s worth signing up to this if you’re looking to save a few Euros while onboard!

So, is the pizza any good?
Ok, this is probably the number one question on your mind - if you’re paying extra for the pizza, is it worth it?
This one’s really simple from my point of view - YES. I found the pizza onboard Costa Diadema, Costa Smeralda and Costa Toscana (all of the Costa ships I’ve cruised on so far) to be so fresh, tasty and filling.
It comes with a huge thumbs up from me - well worth a try! Don’t believe me? Here’s a few pictures of my pizzas…
