Cruise Ship Towel Animals: Don’t miss the INVASION on your next Carnival Cruise!

If you’re anything like me, you’ll love a towel animal. Before I took my first cruise with Carnival Cruise Line, I had no idea about their famous towel animal invasion. You can imagine my delight when I was walking to breakfast in the morning and I found countless towel animals had invaded the top decks - I absolutely LOVED it!

In this post, I’m going to show you more from the towel animal ‘invasion’ that took place during my cruise, and also share with you when you can see this for yourself on your next cruise!

So, what is the towel animal invasion on a Carnival cruise?

This is a one-off event on each cruise, so you need to be really careful not to miss it! It won’t be announced, so it’s important that you read on to get more ‘in the know’ to avoid missing out.

The towel animal invasion is an event where, behind the scenes, the onboard crew will have made hundreds of towel animals, ready to be displayed out on the open decks to delight passengers, as a ‘good morning’ surprise!

I didn’t count how many creations there were, but I’d confidently say there must have been well over 100 - an incredible display of talent!

You’ll find towel animals on almost every lounger, all around the main swimming pool, at the bars, on stools - you get the picture.

I really loved the fact this event wasn’t announced or publicised, as it meant that all of the passengers discovered it themselves - it was one of my cruise highlights to watch passengers coming out onto the open decks and shrieking with delight when they saw what awaited them.

Here’s a few pictures to give you a feel for what the towel animal invasion looks like on a Carnival cruise ship…

That’s just a flavour of what lies in store during your cruise - they were EVERYWHERE!

When does the towel animal invasion take place on a Carnival cruise?

Ok, this is the million dollar question. I wish I had a concrete answer for you, but the reality is that the exact day of your towel animal invasion can change depending on your cruise.

Generally speaking, it’ll either take place on your final port day, or your final sea day. On my cruises, it’s always been the final port day, but I’m in multiple online forums where people have been discussing how it’s appeared on the last sea day instead.

My general advice? If you really want to see this event (I’d really recommend it!), then take a walk around the top decks each morning - you never know what you might find!

What was my favourite towel animal of the invasion?

For me, this one’s EASY. While I absolutely love any type of towel animal, I really couldn’t believe the giant alligator. This masterpiece was about the same length as my height, and it was such a strong centrepiece right infront of the pool. Hopefully this is the only time that I’ll see an alligator on a cruise ship…!!

(Yes, that is another towel animal in the mouth of the alligator. Brilliant, isn’t it?!).

Does the Towel animal invasion happen on every Carnival cruise ship?

From my research, the answer I’d give here is YES! Whatever Carnival cruise ship you’re planning to cruise on, you should be treated to this event, so be sure to keep watch!
